JG Art Gallery + Events sits two blocks from the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal, in the heart of Winslow's gallery district — the former home of Roby King Gallery, one of the Pacific Northwest's defining art spaces.
Roby King Gallery occupied 176 Winslow Way E for over two decades — one of the defining institutions of Pacific Northwest art representation. Artists who showed there built careers. Collectors who bought there bought well. When Roby King closed, JG Art Gallery + Events acquired the space and the stewardship that came with it.
The Bainbridge program does not try to replicate what Roby King was. It tries to be worthy of the address. The same standard — does the work hold the room? — applied to a new roster, new artists, and a collector base that now extends worldwide. The Pacific Northwest community that supported the space for decades is still here, still returning season after season. They have been joined by collectors who discover the gallery online and arrive by ferry.
The space is in the heart of Winslow's gallery district — two blocks from the ferry terminal, walkable from the boat. Two hours from Portland. An afternoon from Vancouver. And, because every opening is available worldwide simultaneously, accessible to any collector anywhere on the day it opens.
